I'm afraid you are right...
The problem is that in general Hollywood movies used to be once on the top. See the classics and you will understand what I mean.
Today, even if we have those fancy sci-fi technologies that permit us to create computerized effects on the movies, still their quality goes lower and lower.
Because there is no more playing for art, but is playing for money. There is no catharsis anymore. Is only shock.
And I'm afraid Star Trek has recently being "caught" in this spiral too. Which is extremely bad, and I'm very angry about it.
