Lavell Crump is an American rapper, model, occasional actor, record producer, record label executive. Better known by his stage name David Banner and takes this name from the lead character of the 1970s and 1980s series The Incredible Hulk.One half of the rap duo Crooked Lettaz, David Banner helped put Mississippi on the map in 1999. In the year 2000, his first solo album was released entitled Them Firewater Boyz, Vol. 1. Originally on Penalty Records, but then realized the New York-based record label just didn't know how to handle music of the south. His crew helped, and he was able to sell over 10,000 copies of his first album in his hometown. Nationally in 2003 with a pair of albums, Mississippi: The Album and MTA2: Baptized in Dirty Water. These releases held a varied clutch of hits -- "Like a Pimp," "Cadillac on 22's" and "Crank It Up." Following the release of the albums two years later, he released Certified.
