Rascal Flatts

Rascal Flatts is an American Grammy Award-winning country group from Nashville, Tennessee. The group members are: Gary LeVox (lead vocals); LeVox's second cousin, Jay DeMarcus (bass guitar, harmony vocals); and Joe Don Rooney (lead guitar, harmony vocals). Alle the band members are very young (between 18 and 25) which is quite unusual for country music where the average listener is 44 years old. In September 2007, Weekly Reader Research conducted a poll of more than 2,000 children and Rascal Flatts ranked as the sixth-most-popular band among ages 10-12.


Rascal Flatts has released five studio albums and a live compilation to date, all on Lyric Street Records. Their first two albums, Rascal Flatts and Melt were both released in 2000, then it followed Feels Like Today in 2004 and Me and My Gang in 2006. Still Feels Good, their most recent album, was released in 2007. All the albums went platinum.


To date, they have also released twenty singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts; of these, eight have reached Number One.


Me and My Gang had the highest US debut of 2006, with 722,000 units sold in April. The album spent 15 weeks as the number one album on the Billboard Country Chart and was the second-best selling album of 2006 with 3.5 million sales by year's end.


Nielsen reported that the band were the top selling artist in 2006: "Rascal Flatts was the biggest selling artist, with nearly 5 million physical album sales and nearly 4 million digital track sales." In 2006 they also won a Grammy Award For Best Country Song for "Bless The Broken Road."
