Robert Sylvester Kelly was born January 8, 1967 also known as R. Kelly, is an American R&B and pop singer-songwriter, rapper and record producer. First arriving in the music industry in 1992 with the group Public Announcement; R Kelly left the group for a successful solo career starting with the album, 12 Play which was released in 1993. Some of R Kelly’s collection of hit singles include "Bump N' Grind", "I Believe I Can Fly", "Ignition" and the urban hip-hopera "Trapped in the Closet". June 6, 2002 Kelly was indicted on 21 counts of having sexual intercourse with minors. In June 13, 2008 he was acquitted of the charges that earlier were reduced to soliciting minors for child pornography.
