Terius Youngdell Nash, better known by his stage name The-Dream, is an American singer and songwriter. He rose to fame following the writing of hits including Rihanna's "Umbrella", J. Holiday's "Bed" Jesse McCartney's "Leavin'" and others. He recently wrote Usher's "Moving Mountains" and also co-wrote Ciara's new single "High Price", which was produced by his production partner Jerome Tyes and Julius S. Thompson. After graduating from High School, Nash joined a singing group called, "Guess Who", signed by a local rapper named Raheem. A few years later, Nash began writing songs for up-and-coming rappers and hooks for his peers. He got his first publishing deal in 2003, when he signed to Peer Music after writing B2K's single, "Everything." The song, which appeared on B2K's platinum sophomore album, "Pandemonium", truly put The-Dream on the map. He began writing songs for Britney Spears, Madonna, & Nivea, the last of which he was executive producer of the album.
He spent two more years writing songs but after the major success of "Umbrella", Nash got his own deal with Def Jam Records and began working on various projects for the label's artists, as well as completing his debut studio album Love Me All Summer, Hate Me All Winter (aka Love Hate). It was written and recorded in only nine days and co-produced by his writing and production partner, Tricky Stewart. The first single off the album, "Shawty Is a 10" has garnered a steady following peaking so far at number six on the Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and number seventeen on the Billboard Hot 100 .
On June 24, 2008, The-Dream won the award for Best New Artist at the 2008 BET Awards.
