The Killers

The Killers the American rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada consisting of Brandon Flowers (vocals/keyboards), David Keuning (guitar), Mark Stoermer (bass), and Ronnie Vannucci (drums). The Killers combined music styles from the 1980s and 1990s with modern synthetic music which took the pop world by storm. In the fall of 2003 The Killers released their single “Mr. Brightside” following this in the summer of 2004 with "Somebody Told Me," this perfectly stylish song pulls from the band's influences the Smiths, New Order, Oasis, and the Cure and it was just enough to get them on MTV. In October, The Killers' buzz earned them a prime gig at the annual CMJ Music Marathon. Thereafter, The Killers signed with Island which positioned The Killers to join the ranks of Interpol, the Rapture, and the Strokes. The Killers then were granted access to showcase material from its debut album by Shared U.K dates British Sea Power and Stellastarr in summer 2004. In the next months, it was announced that The Killers were among the ten finalists up for the 2004 Shortlist Music Prize.
