  • Description: http://www.mpefm.com/inglese/corpo.htm Entering the Ierimonti Gallery, you'll be surprised by a strong scent of candy:Temporary Smell is a sculpture made entirely of Marshmallows. A suspended and coloured cloud, a multi sensorial installation where smell ans sight are the key senses, but where touch has also its space as it's almost impossible to retain from touching the installation, as we move around and inside it. The poetic Nausica Berbenni, young sculptress at her first solo show touches important themes such as the ones of frailty, dependency, consolation and ephemeris. The candy becomes a metaphor for the object of desire, but also of dependency, and the temporary consolation created by the satisfaction of the desire itself. The effect that the piece has on the viewer is first surprise, happiness, curiosity and fulfillment, but shortly the sweet smell of marshmallows becomes fulsome to the point of being bothering. The same feeling we get from something we are victims of, but in any addiction that same disgusts shortly turns into desire again. The piece of this young artist, that has curiously chosen to use candy as her primary material, communicates with a language that speaks directly to the subconscious where the joyous atmosphere is merely a facade for a delicate but effective portrait of mankind's weaknesses.
